Everyone is aware of the economic hardship that the people of United States dealt with in 2008 and 2009. With the economic recession causing loss of jobs, house foreclosures, and major credit card debts the prospects of the future was stark and gloomy. Yet, after a New President is elected who is also from the opposite Party of the previous President, has things become well? With the newly elected President Obama from the Democrat Party will the recession ease and decrease?

Since the recession, the U.S. dollar has been losing its value as gold prices goes up. Luxury items are discounted to lure consumers during the economic crisis. Consumers have become cautious with spending money because getting a job and earning money is very difficult during the financial recession. People do not splurge anymore but shop with caution. The 2009 Black Friday is not as crowded as the 2008 Black Friday. Consumers have become more aware of the economic recession and thus, are shopping with sizable caution. Consumers now think hard on what to spend money on and usually will score what they need and not want they want. Consumers are skeptical of the future and how the recession will play out. Will it get better or worst? Fear of recession increasing rather than decreasing seems to be the thought of most of the people in the United States. And they should be skeptical, with the continued high unemployment rate of 2009, recently a 10.2% in October 2009.

Houses are as cheap as ever and there are gigantic deals for first time home buyers and tax credits deals. Yet, you may be next on the unemployment list and after that comes your house on foreclosure. This is why percentages like personal investment needed to drive the economy up are slow to develop. Many people are holding onto their money since finding a job is so difficult and therefore, they will save their money instead of investing it on buying houses even when the house prices are considerable cheaper than before.

On the otherhand, in September 2009 the Cash for Clunkers programs stimulated automotive sales and the manufacturing economy is expanding. Also although retail sales are still slow, industrial production is increasing. Yet, are conditions really getting better and will the recession gradually decrease in the months ahead?

Experts like David Kelly who is JPMorgan Fund’s chief market strategist, Bob Doll vice chairman and global chief investment officer of equities for BlackRock, John Linehan, co director of T. Rowe Price’s U.S. equity division and portfolio manager of the T. Rowe Price Value Fund, and last but not least, Uri Landesman, head of global growth at ING Investment Management all believe the recession is ending and the recovery process is taking place. Although it may remove a while for things to be better, these experts possess that the worst is behind and that there are signs of positive outcome starting in July 2009. However, the National Bureau of Economic Research will have the actual results from its observe and findings and let the public know later on if the recession is fact over and declare the month in which it ended.

The end of Recession is only the beginning of Recovery. It may take a while before the economy will seem good. Unemployment rates will decrease but there still will be unemployment. The end of recession only means that the worst is over and the economy is slowing recovering and recuperating. Manufacturing and Sales have begun to make comebacks which are indicators that the economy is getting better and not getting worst.

Numbers show that the economy shrank at an annual rate of 1% in the latest quarter compared to the 6.4% in the previous quarter which means that recession or the worst is over, yet recover is only just beginning and it may take a very long time for unemployment rates to become low again.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke echoes the prediction for the 2010 economy: “From a technical perspective, the recession is very likely over at this point,” Bernanke told a conference at the Brookings Institution. But “it’s still going to feel like a very weak economy for some time.” In other words, even though the recession is decreasing or partly over, the economy is still very weak and recovery will be dreadfully slow. Hold on tight to get through this bad financial nightmare. The positive days are slowly creeping back.

I am the owner of Bad Boy’z Incorporated, a single vehicle pilot car company now based in Mesa, AZ. I started this company in December of 2008, quitting my job and using the money I had in my 401k to assume equipment and to finance expenses. Having done very thorough research into this industry, and having 15 years experience as a heavy haul truck driver, I thought that this was the business that I needed to get into. Now, 6 months into business, I am really wondering what I am getting myself into.

Basically what I would be doing is following behind or driving in front of a Tractor Trailer hauling an over-height or over-width load. My job is basically to be there as a safety precaution to warn traffic of the hazards presented by the truck going down the highway.

After spending nearly $5,000.00 on equipment and modifications to my Ford Explorer, I was ready to work. I had been thinking for a couple of years about opening up this business, and had talked to quite a few people who were doing this everyday. I had already signed sub-contractor agreements with the 2 large companies that dispatch pilot cars. I called these companies everyday and made sure that they knew I was available and ready to work.

After about 3 weeks with no business, spending 10 to 12 hours a day on the telephone talking to customers. things were looking very bad. I had gotten into a business, that because of the economy, had no business. I pushed on, and did everything I could to keep above water because I had faith that this business would take off. Finally, about 4:30PM on a Monday, a customer called me and advised me they had a load that needed to be followed to Chattanooga, TN. It was scheduled to be leaving from Longview, TX at 7:00AM the next day. After a restless night waiting for the time to pass, I arrived at the starting point at 6:00AM just to be sure I would not be late. This load went mountainous, we made good time to the destination, and 2 days after I was finished, I received a check for the run. The only problem was on arriving at Chattanooga, there was no additional work to get me headed back home, so I paid for the fuel to get attend.

Things went like this for about 3 months, just to the point where things were really starting to spy up. Of course, as you know, when things launch to look up, Mr. Murphy comes in and rains on your parade. During this time, the woman I was dating was helping out by answering phones and calling customers while I was on the road. I had changed my insurance company since the novel company was fair about half what I was paying for my business insurance before. She received the cancellation notice in the mail one day, and called the company that I had been getting the most work from, and advised them I didn’t have insurance anymore. They immediately terminated my contract because of this and refused to do anymore business with me. I advised them that I had never had a lapse in insurance, and that I had, as required by our contract, provided them with copies of the recent policy, but I was advised that the decision had been made, and would not be changed. I could be considered to work with them again, after 6 months. OK, here I am down to unprejudiced 1 customer and trying to preserve bills up at home, and keep my vehicle on the road. It is getting even tighter.

I have been able to keep the business open, for the last 2 months relying only on a fragment time job, and having to move in with family to lower my expenses. I have tried to get some type of credit established, and have had no luck since the business is less than 2 years old, and has less than 1 million dollars in assets. I have not even been able to find vendor’s willing to give my company a small line of credit even for office supplies or computers. When I talk to them, I am always told that the economy is very bad and that with the number of business that are failing, that they are not giving credit to smaller companies. Even my bank, which I have had a relationship with for nearly 15 years, is not willing to make loans to any company that has been in business less than 2 years, even with a personal guarantee.

I am at the point now, that I am working a part time job, trying to run a business, and not really distinct where to turn. I am not very optomistic at this time that my business will be able to conclude open even until the 1st of July. Auto purchase credit is not available, equipment credit is not available, and even small business credit cards and gas credit cards are not available. Basically, if the economy does not turn around, Im out of business.

This has taught me some very valuable lessions about starting a business that I would like to share here.

1. Be sure if you start a business, have the financing in space to initiate your business suitable and keep it operating for atleast 6 months without making a dollar.

2. Make sure that you have at least 1 year of living expenses saved before you even consider starting a business.

3. Never initiate a business with someone you are dating. If you are not married, they are not a part of the business. I know this sounds harsh, but from my experience, it can turn out to be a bad situation.

4. Research your business very carefully. Evaluate the condition of the economy and decide what that will do to your business. If you provide a service, and there is nobody to buy that service, then it is a expedient time to step assist and re-evaluate your business.

I am really hoping that I am able to continue my business, but realistically looking at the bottom line, I have not made any money at all since December, I am nearly thru all the money I had in the bank, and things are still very slow. The construction industry has yet to pick up, and I have yet to see an increase in business because of President Obama’s economic stimulis package.

According to the Insurance Information Institute, the average American spent $795 on car insurance in 2007. The averages change from year to year, but how insurance companies formulate the cost of your auto insurance premiums don’t fluctuate much.

Age

Younger drivers are statistically more likely to get into accidents, according to the California DMV, particularly those in the 16 to 19 age group. This means that, the older you secure, the less you pay for car insurance premiums. Age also affects your credit score, which insurers use to provide quotes. A longer credit history means a better credit get, which translates to lower car insurance rates.

You will pay more for auto insurance if you have a teenage driver on your policy. This is especially true when he or she first receives a learning permit or license.

Driving Habits

How many accidents have you caused? How many traffic tickets have you received? How far do you drive to work? Where is your car stored when not in spend? Your driving habits encompass all of these and more, and will impact the cost of your car insurance premiums. The more you drive, for example, the higher the risk.

Residence

Where you live is also an issue. Some states, such as New Jersey and Louisiana, have higher car insurance rates than others. You might pay less if you live in a less-populous county, and you might pay more if you live in a large metropolitan area.

Furthermore, your sincere residence can alter the cost of your car insurance premiums. If you live in a single-family residence with a garage, your car is more protected than if you park in the lot at your apartment complex.

Vehicle

Some cars are impartial more expensive to insure than others. You will also pay more if you determine to buy higher levels of liability, comprehensive and collision coverage. Generally speaking, newer, more valuable cars are more expensive to insure than older, cheaper models.

Security Risks

If your car is equipped with security devices, such as alarm systems and anti-lock brakes, you will probably lower the cost of your car insurance premiums. Most insurers offer discounts if your vehicle is more secure, so it sometimes pays to install after-market security devices if your car is not equipped with them.

Occupation

If your work is far from your home or if you exhaust your vehicle in the course of your job, this will increase your car insurance premiums. For example, a pizza delivery driver might have to pay more than a high school teacher because the old-fashioned uses his vehicle all day, and therefore presents a higher risk of an accident. However, depending on your occupation, your employer may provide you with insurance coverage for your vehicle when it is being used for the job, so be sure to discuss this with your insurance agent.

Pricing Auto Insurance Premiums

Even if you have significant risk factors for higher car insurance, you can still lower your rates by being a safe driver and by taking advantage of discounts. Let your agent know that you are concerned about your premiums, and ask about any ways that you might be able to lower them.

Accidents happen on the road all of the time rocks falling from trucks or some other way. Car windows are barraged with all kinds of things some of which are harmful to car glass. What do you do if you gather a small chip in the window? Is this something that requires immediate attention or can it wait?

This is only a cheap fix that will not compare to what they can do at a shop but it does work and lasts for quite sometime. It will keep the window from cracking further at least until one has the money or time for a shop visit.

Note: Some insurance companies pay for this type of repair in a shop.

Here is an easy fix that could save the day in three easy to follow and do steps that will take all of five to ten minutes. Tools needed: Window cleaner, paper towels, super glue.

Step 1: Shapely the area very thoroughly making positive the area is dirt free. This will ensure the adhesive will stick with few problems. Do not apply pressure when cleaning the state as this could have some heart breaking results.

Step 2: Place tape around the area to be fixed if one finds it necessary. The tape can be placed over the chip in question with an area cut just large enough for the chip to explain. This is only for neatness if someone has an unsteady hand. Spruce glue can be hard to remove from the glass if it gets out of control.

I usually do not spend tape it takes too long but it does keep the glue on target.

Step 3: Now that the spot is ready take the super glue and apply it to the chip one to two drops should be sufficient. Utilize the spout on the glue to keep it in residence so as not to have the glue run. This will dry in about a minute and the glass should not crack further. The chip will composed be noticeable but the chip will not turn into a crack.

This fix should last a few years and will keep one from going to the shop when one cannot afford it. Super glue can be purchased for about a dollar at most Dollar Stores and is a good tool to keep in any vehicle.

Alternatives to any situation are always good for whatever reason.

Well, folks its about time for dawg daze, so I gotta lay on ya a little poem I came up with for a contest.

Dawg Daze

What winter is to logs, August is to dogs
They both just sit and get hot!

But what works for the log, won’t do for the dog,
He’ll just bite yer hand if you poke him!

(Needs an illustrator, hint, hint)

That outta my sytem, my attention is drawn to thoughts of Memphis heat, and how ya get along in it. Check yer black book for friends/family that has a pool. And most of em spell that ool, cause there’s no P in in it, and they like it that way, if you get my drift.

In Memphis, it isn’t the heat, it’s the stupidity, and if you are ever out in traffic, stuck in a group on an expressway that’s’ not moving, and there’s NO reason to be stopped, you have just happened upon a substance called Memphis Molasses. It IS the stupidity!

We Memphians can’t seem to move right along, just cause things get tight and close up. There’s not nearly enough Freon handy to keep this place ENTIRELY comfy! Those of us that have a handy body of water to drop or ooze into, do so. The rest of us have to settle for garden hoses and air conditioners, if we have em.

Some of us go visit with Chris or, on Saturdays, Bill Bruce over at Rooke Sails on South Prescott and check out the slow moving watercraft at Rooke Sails, of which Chris has a lot full. If our wallets aren’t quite that full, we have to make do. (and Chris, I retract commissions in CASH!)

Actually, if you have a vessel and its NOT motorized, you can launch at Shelby Farms’ Patriot Lake. I see Hobies and wind surfers on it occasionally. If you have a trace amount of cash, you can paddle around on water bikes and such that they rent there.

If your watercraft has some VROOM! to it, there’s McKellar Lake on the southwest corner, Ole Man River on the west, and several bodies further out, in virtually all directions. Y’all putcha life jackets on, ya heah!

The city, having put all fun to a complete stop, has finally opened city pools. So, sign up, walk in slowly and carefully and mind the lifeguards. Liability insurance has already maxed out with two drowninings, so they’re johnny on the spot if they hear HELP! So MEAN it if ya say it, Ya Heah!

I keep waiting for someone have a bodacious beach by their body of water, so we can have a sand sculpture contest like they have down at Edgewater Mall in Biloxi around 4th of July. It’s so cool! But Maywood heard the call of the taxman and the real estate developer and shut HIS beach down. So remarkable for that idea.

I was raised with a boat and and engine under me most of the time, but, alas, that all got expensive, and, in short order, sold, so I, too, comb the horizon for an ool. There are some to be had, but can’t tell where they are.
Like my friends to actually WANT me around, so that’s a private list.

There ARE some options for chillin out, tho. Exxon, Sonic and a handul of other drop by’s have deals on their chill eats and drinks, so stop by there.
As for getting the whole body wet, go net a fountain somewhere, while I think somethin else up. Keep it frosty, Memphis! Its only 45 days to the first kickoff of the football season, I peep by the UT Sports website, so THERE’s somethin to look forward to! Ciao!

“Come on you guys! It doesn’t take a genius to figure out how stupid these TV commercials are getting!” Now you’ve got the caveman doing a “crummy” rendition of a supposedly Disco dance! If Disco music was this dreadful, it would have never survived the 70′s. It’s bad enough that Geico Insurance insults peoples intelligence by constantly showing us these “stupid” TV commercials everyday, but now you insult our “Disco” American culture with bad music!

Most of Geico Insurance customers now days were probably “Big Fans” of Disco music, back in the 1970′s. Simply because a lot of young people that live at home with their parents, have their car insurance under their parents name, thus in return most young people DO NOT purchase car insurance. Using TOP name celebrities like “Peter Frampton” or “Little Richard” was a bad idea for Geico. These celebrities must be “getting really hard up to accept such an act of stupidity!”

Ironically, what a lot of people DO NOT realize is how serious automobile insurance can be? If you hit someone with your vehicle and they are seriously injured. Most likely their attorney will file a lawsuit against you! Automobile accident lawsuits are filed against the driver that caused the accident and NOT the insurance company.

If you go to court, “Is Geico going to get the caveman to represent you in front of a jury? ” I think not. Although attorneys are NOT allowed to mention the name of the insurance company during the trial, but can ask “Do you have any disagreements with Geico Insurance? ” during jury selection. The jury will then realize that it’s Geico Insurance who will pay the bill. “Hopefully the caveman will not be your attorney!”

The attorneys I have talked to, position that Geico Insurance is not that awful about settling out of court. Unlike Statefarm and Allstate which will always go to trial for any injury, which we ironically seem to pay higher insurance premium prices for? These two companies do seem to have decent commercials regarding your car insurance policy.

Personally, I believe that Geico needs to “Update” their TV commercials or advertisement campaign. At the present time, they are objective taking up TV viewers time with nonsense and “stupidity” I am sure Geico pays these TV advertisement companies an enormous amount of money each year!

My advice for Geico, if they want to keep their existing customers, and possible future customers, is to do away with these “stupid” TV commercials and try something more modern. Perhaps using a parody of some kind taken from a movie? TV viewers calm love entertainment and will most likely appreciate the creative change.

Thanks for reading,

Phillip Chambley.

Senior citizens and older drivers, like teenagers, find themselves at a disadvantage when it comes to car insurance. A number of factors, such as crashes per miles driven and accident fatalities according to age group, cause insurance rates to begin to rise once a driver reaches the age of 60. Considered only slightly less risky than new drivers there are some things seniors can do to keep the rising costs of auto insurance to a minimum.

Most states now offer mature defensive driving courses designed to hold driving skills sharp. As is the case with Driver’s Ed, about two thirds of all states mandate insurance companies give policy discounts upon completion of these courses. Generally, the cost for these two day courses is less than $30.00 and may well provide a 10% discount on auto insurance for 3 years. Checking with your insurance agent, AAA, or AARP can fetch you information on where courses are offered in your state along with actual costs.

Seniors should carefully judge the vehicle being driven for a number of reasons. As a rule most insurance companies give discounts across the board for safety and anti-theft features, updating or upgrading could save money over the long haul. Additionally, as we age our reflexes and reaction time slows, so now more than ever it is principal for the car to be properly maintained and easy to operate.

One of the biggest money savers on car insurance is also the most obvious – avoiding accidents. Any driver regardless of age who is uncomfortable during certain conditions such as weather, darkness, or rush hour should simply just not drive.

Joining AAA, or AARP is well worth the yearly fee, not only will it save you money on car insurance in some cases, but it can also save on repairs. Always shop around for the best prices, or at the very least review your policy yearly with an agent to be sure you’re not missing any discounts.

You’ve known as unique insurance businesses to get a quote for that new automobile you’re purchasing You’re wondering why there is such a distinction in premiums Is 1 business greater than an additional And, if they are a well established and strong firm, what justifies their higher rates?

As a retired insurance agent, I’ve been asked countless times why the rates are so high or so low that they’re too great to be true There are a myriad of elements involved when insurance organizations set their premium rates If you can start to comprehend the reasoning behind the rates, it will make you an educated consumer and maybe support you save dollars.Rate elements consist of:1) Sort of vehicle Is it a four door six-cylinder compact sedan or a quick and furious Corvette This is a no-brainer Cars built for speed command higher premiums mainly because they are commonly driven quicker and trigger much more damage in collisions and have a higher incidence of theft The quicker the automobile is going, the worse the accident The smaller compact sedan is ordinarily, but not constantly, driven in a extra conservative manner.2) Year of vehicle The newer the vehicle, the higher the rates Easy as that Why Newer cars are far more pricey to repair The repair shop need to use brand new parts unlike older vehicles where parts can be discovered in junkyards at a discount.three) How a lot the vehicle is driven Do you drive it every day thirty miles 1 way to work or only for weekend errands This is known as exposure The a lot more exposure (mileage), the a lot more chances for an accident and hence the higher premium.4) Where you live Do you live out in the country or in the inner city These are two extremes, but point out the disparity in some of the rates Chances of theft or vandalism outside a city are commonly reasonably low There is a a lot greater chance of these things happening in a big and busy metropolitan area You may perhaps have much more exposure if driving lengthy distances in the country, but the accident and theft chances are lower.5) Road and weather conditions Does your county maintain the roads up and in great repair or are the roads full of potholes and neglected Great roads commonly mean reasonably lower rates all things being equal Do you live in the Sun Belt or in the northern component of the country that receives a lot of rain, snow and ice Insurance firms take this into account after studying effects of weather on the local roads and the quantity and severity of accidents throughout incredibly cold weather.6) Your age and driving record Are you a great driver with no tickets or accidents and are between the ages of thirty-five and fifty years old Congratulations You’re most likely going to get decent rates no matter what firm you decide on We all know a new teen driver in the household will trigger rates to jump, but an older individual over seventy years old can also trigger a rate boost Yes, it’s discriminatory, but that’s how insurance businesses set rates for the quantity of risk they ought to shoulder. These are the main elements involved in your auto insurance rate Know the elements and you won’t be as shocked at the premiums charged You may possibly be able to save some funds understanding what to say to and ask of your agent Understanding where you stand and how the auto insurance organization sets rates make you a thrifty and smart shopper .

If you are shopping for car insurance, you know it can cost hundreds of dollars per year to insure your car. Since the car insurance market is fragmented and state-regulated, small changes to your policies can add up to thousands over the life of your car. Many drivers would be well served to consider the cheapest, correct insurance for their car. Here are some advantages of buying the cheapest insurance for your car.

1) You save money

The obvious reason to buy the cheapest insurance for your car is that you save money. To understand this idea, imagine an auto insurance company with 100 drivers as policyholders. 10 of these drivers get in an accident during the year and 90 drive the year accident-free. These 90 drivers will not file any claims and will not receive any money from the insurance company. The 10 drivers with accidents will file claims and receive money from the insurer. In this example, the 90 drivers who do not file a claim will be subsidizing the claims filed by the 10 drivers with accidents. Worse yet, these 90 drivers will also be paying the salaries of the company employees and profits to the company owners.

Over the long-run, a more expensive insurance policy will cost you money because you will not file a sufficient number of claims to recoup the premiums you pay to the insurer. By opting for the cheapest, legal policy, you reduce the amount you are contributing to claims of dreadful drivers and profits to corporate shareholders.

2) You save time

If you have an expensive insurance policy with a zero-deductible, you are forced to contact your insurer for every accident involving your automobile. Many minor accidents result in less than $100 of distress and could be handled in mere minutes by most drivers. However, if you need to file an insurance claim, you are forced to treat every accident the same and even minor fender-benders can choose hours of your time.

Auto insurers generally request a police report or witness statements for claims and always contact the driver multiple times for sufficient information to process a claim. It is doubtful that you enjoy communicating with your car insurance claims department and it is likely each claim will waste a dozen hours or more. When you purchase the cheapest insurance for you car, you reduce the number of claims you need to file with your insurance company. By paying for minor accident repairs out-of-pocket rather than filing a claim, you can save a noteworthy amount of time.

3) You gain flexibility

Every car insurance company has a strict list of rules that determine when and where repairs are made. Many mandate that drivers must take their car to a specific repair shop between specific hours on a specific day. Even companies that advertise flexible repair choices restrict the list of providers and limit the type of work to be performed. When you engage an expensive auto insurance policy, you are locking yourself into choices made by your insurance company.

With the cheapest insurance for you car, you will be paying out-of-pocket for minor repairs. This gives you total control over the timing, nature, and location of automotive repairs. A cheap car insurance policy will provide you with flexibility.
